Library of Daedong Elementary School
Daedong Elementary School Dreamdam Library is a project to remodel the library of Daedong Elementary School. The library, located on the second floor of the extension of the main building, was not functioning properly due to narrow spaces, unspecified furniture, and poor colors.
It was preceded by identifying functional and emotional needs through student workshops, librarian interviews, and surveys of officials, and carefully examining the size of the collection and how the library is used.
In order to overcome the constraint of a narrow space compared to the library, the library and the learning room were integrated, and the folding door was used to separate them if necessary. The central bookshelf was set low to meet the students' eye level, and the entire space could be watched at the librarian's desk. Reflecting the tendency of children who like small spaces to hide, various types of hideouts are planned, and a long table is placed in the center and a bar table is placed in the window to allow free group reading classes and free reading.
In the learning area, which is divided into folding doors, a stair-type ondol floor is planned so that you can roll on the floor and read books, and use it as an audience when giving lectures.
Children dream by freely swimming through an open library consisting of various types of unit spaces.
